Passports will be exchanged to SSV's access cards , your passports will be kept by SSV until disembarkation in Singapore.

2nd day, you can choose to dock at Malacca & tour there for a bit in the morning , there will be a boat that will ferry from Super Star Virgo to Malacca's shore(I wasn't keen to try this) , or you can choose to debark later at Port Klang to go to Kuala Lumpur City for SGD 16 about 2 PM, returning at 6PM. Time taken each way was about 1.30 hrs to KL city on the hired coaches.
These have to be booked prior on the 1st night at the Reception on level 7.
For these tours to Malacca / KL, please remember to bring your access cards and keep them safely after disembarkation at Malacca / KL, this is to ensure that you can return to the cruise ship afterwards.

Apart from the above there is the BBQ party called the 360 degrees on the high seas on the 2nd night on the level 12, Pool side. They had a BBQ dinner and it was quite nice. They had red meat cuts, seafood, fruits and ice cream =)
Cold Beers and the chilled wines can be ordered from the Travena on Level 13.
On this cruise, there was a massage company demonstration/advertising – featuring free back massage, foot massage and manicure & nail painting. I tried all the free services, it was marvelous, especially the massage part !!

There was also a DJ from Zouk KL, spinning and mixing dance music, its rocking tempo and good selection of music, really bring out the dancing shoes!

On SSV, it is quite an experience. it's engines when it is set at high speeds can be felt moving in the cabins, casino, restaurants. Apart from feeling it's engines from the vibrations via the floor, the ship is very stable, so much that one will not feel that the ship is moving forward. Also to try out is to look out of the cabin windows / or from level 12 pool side & view the islands and waves created by the moving ship, the view is good !

I would recommend changing into swim suits and pop into any 4 of the Jacuzzi @ Parthenon Pool, feel the heat soak away your tired muscles and fast jets hitting sore spots and have a tan under clear the skies or see the stars twinkling and night wind blowing on your face =)
Prior Booking for the jucuzzi is not required, however subject to availbility.

Most of the passengers are Indians, however only their teenage boys would get into the Jacuzzi, so there is no shortage of space.

In short, having a cruise is a real nice getaway!

Desire

An emperor was coming out of his palace for his morning walk when he met a beggar. He asked the beggar, "What do you want?"

The beggar laughed and said, "You are asking me as though you can fulfill my desire!"

The king was offended. He said, "Of course I can fulfill your desire. What is it? Just tell me."And the beggar said, "Think twice before you promise anything."

The beggar was no ordinary beggar, he was the emporers past life master. He had promised in that life, "I will come and try to wake you in your next life. This life you have missed but I will come again." But the king had forgotten completely -- who remembers past lives?

So he insisted, "I will fulfill anything you ask. I am a very powerful emperor, what can you possibly desire that I can not give to you?"

The beggar said, "It is a very simple desire. You see this begging bowl? Can you fill it with something?"

The emperor said, "Of course!" He called one of his viziers and told him, "Fill this mans begging bowl with money." The vizier went and got some money and poured it into the bowl, and it disappeared. And he poured more and more, and the moment he would pour it, it would disappear. And the beggging bowl remained always empty.

The whole palace gathered. By and by the rumor went throughout the whole capital, and a huge crowd gathered. The prestige of the emperor was at stake. He said to his viziers, "If the whole kingdom is lost, I am ready to lose it, but I cannot be defeated by this beggar."Diamons and pearls and emeralds, his treasuries were becoming empty.

The begging bowl seemed to be bottomless.

Everything that was put into it -- everything! -- immediately disappeared, went out of existence.

Finally it was the evening, and the people were standing there in utter silence. The king dropped at the fet of the beggar and admitted his defeat. he said, "Just tell me one thing. You are victorious - but before you leave, just fulfill my curiousity. What is the beging bowl made of?"

The beggar laughed and said, "It is made up of the human mind. There is no secret. It is simple made up of human desire."

This understanding transforms life. Go into one desire -- what is the mechanism of it?

First there is a great excitement, great thrill, adventure. you feel a great kick. Somehting is going to happen, you are on the verge of it. And then you have the car, you have the yacht, you have the house, you have the woman, and suddenly all is meaningless again.

What happens?

Your mind has dematerialised it. The car is standing in the drive, but there is no excitement anymore. The excitement was only in getting it. You became so drunk with the desire thah you forgot your inner nothingness. Now the desire is fulfilled, the car in the drive, the woman in your bed, the money in your bank account - again excitement disappears.

Again the emptiness is there, ready to eat you up.

Again you have to create another desire to escape this yawning abyss.

That's how one moves from one desire to another desire.

That's how one remains a beggar. Your whole life proves it again and again -- every desire frustrates. And when the goal is achieved, you will need another desire. The day you understand that desire as such is going to fail comes the turning point in your life.

The Pickle Jar

~ by Helen Keller ~

The pickle jar as far back as I can remember sat on the floor beside the dresser in my parents' bedroom. When he got ready for bed, Dad would empty his pockets and toss his coins into the jar.

As a small boy I was always fascinated at the sounds the coins made as they were dropped into the jar. They landed with a merry jingle when the jar was almost empty. Then the tones gradually muted to a dull thud as the jar was filled. I

used to squat on the floor in front of the jar and admire the copper and silver circles that glinted like a pirate's treasure when the sun poured through the bedroom window.

When the jar was filled, Dad would sit at the kitchen table and roll the coins before taking them to the bank.

Taking the coins to the bank was always a big production. Stacked neatly in a small cardboard box, the coins were placed between Dad and me on the seat of his old truck.

Each and every time, as we drove to the bank, Dad would look at me hopefully. "Those coins are going to keep you out of the textile mill, son. You're going to do better than me. This old mill town's not going to hold you back." Also, each and every time, as he slid the box of rolled coins across the counter at the bank toward the cashier, he would grin proudly. "These are for my son's college fund. He'll never work at the mill all his life like me."

We would always celebrate each deposit by stopping for an ice cream cone. I always got chocolate. Dad always got vanilla. When the clerk at the ice cream parlor handed Dad his change, he would show me the few coins nestled in his palm.

"When we get home, we'll start filling the jar again." He always let me drop the first coins into the empty jar. As they rattled around with a brief, happy jingle, we grinned at each other.

"You'll get to college on pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters," he said. "But you'll get there. I'll see to that."

The years passed, and I finished college and took a job in another town.

Once, while visiting my parents, I used the phone in their bedroom, and noticed that the pickle jar was gone. It had served its purpose and had been removed. A lump rose in my throat as I stared at the spot beside the dresser where the jar had always stood.

My dad was a man of few words, and never lectured me on the values of determination, perseverance, and faith. The pickle jar had taught me all these virtues far more eloquently than the most flowery of words could have done.

When I married, I told my wife Susan about the significant part the lowly pickle jar had played in my life as a boy.

In my mind, it defined, more than anything else, how much my dad had loved me. No matter how rough things got at home, Dad continued to doggedly drop his coins into the jar. Even the summer when Dad got laid off from the mill, and Mama had to serve dried beans several times a week, not a single dime was taken from the jar.

To the contrary, as Dad looked across the table at me, pouring catsup over my beans to make them more palatable, he became more determined than ever to make a way out for me. "When you finish college, Son," he told me, his eyes glistening, "You'll never have to eat beans again - unless you want to."

The first Christmas after our daughter Jessica was born, we spent the holiday with my parents.

After dinner, Mom and Dad sat next to each other on the sofa, taking turns cuddling their first grandchild. Jessica began to whimper softly, and Susan took her from Dad's arms. "She probably needs to be changed," she said, carrying the baby into my parents' bedroom to diaper her.

When Susan came back into the living room, there was a strange mist in her eyes. She handed Jessica back to Dad before taking my hand and leading me into the room. "Look", she said softly, her eyes directing me to a spot on the floor beside the dresser.

To my amazement, there, as if it had never been removed, stood the old pickle jar, the bottom already covered with coins. I walked over to the pickle jar, dug down into my pocket, and pulled out a fistful of coins. With a gamut of emotions choking me, I dropped the coins into the jar. I looked up and saw that Dad, carrying Jessica, had slipped quietly into the room.

Our eyes locked, and I knew he was feeling the same emotions I felt. Neither one of us could speak.

This truly touched my heart. I know it has yours as well. Sometimes we are so busy adding up our troubles that we forget to count our blessings. Never underestimate the power of your actions.

With one small gesture you can change a person's life, for better or for worse.

God puts us all in each other's lives to impact one another in some way.

Look for God in others.

The best and most beautiful things cannot be seen or touched - they must be felt with the heart
- Happy moments, praise God. - Difficult moments, seek God. - Quiet moments, worship God. - Painful moments, trust God. - Every moment, thank God.

What is the rationale of giving ?

Giving is defined as freely transfering or imparting something such as gifts or knowledge.

All around us, I see acts of giving: Parents to children, between friends , between customers and service providers, us and our pets, the great nature and all the living beings.

I am inspired by the kindness of the charitable people giving for charity, spending time to cheer the disabled, rasing awareness and trying to intergrate the disabled into the working society, by so enabling them to lead a self sufficent life by earning their keep.

I am cheered by the spirit of some of the determined disabled people that I heard about. Despite of the disablity that they have to face in terms of body mobility or mental capacity, these people, have a strong will , keep a positive outlook on life and to learn new things . They go on to lead meaningful and positive lives and be ambassador for some organizations .

I salute these people for their courage, their families' support and the social groups' support, so that even disabled can find the meaning and confidence to lead a life as normal as one would.

National Day Aug 9 2005 !!

Happy Singapore National day !! We are 40 years old today !!

Founded in year 1965 Aug 9, Singapore took its independence seriously, in the matter of a few decades, we grew from a island with no natural resources, no trade relations to make sure that our livelihood is secure.

Today - our relations and businesses span various corners of the globe. Our citizens had travelled places to eke out new deals and opened new paths for travel.

Singapore is known widely as a clean city, with good food and shopping , affordable transport and nice places of interests i.e. Botanical gardens , Zoological Gardens , Night Safari , Resorts etc..

It's good to be here !!

Tonight there will be another celebrations at the Padang , Singapore , I know I'll be watching it.
With the fireworks in the end of it too !!

Liver health

For some considerations to liver health ..

The MAIN CAUSES of LIVER DAMAGE are:

1. Sleeping too late and waking up too late are the main cause.
2. Not urinating in the morning.
3. Too much eating.
4. Skipping breakfast.
5. Consuming too much medication.
6. Consuming too much preservatives, additives, food coloring, and artificial sweetener.
7. Consuming unhealthy cooking oil. As much as possible reduce cooking oil use when frying, which includes even the best cooking oils like olive oil. Do not consume fried foods when you are tired, except if the body is very fit.
8. Consuming raw (overly done) foods also add to the burden of liver.
Veggies should be eaten raw or cooked 3-5 parts. Fried veggies should be finished in one sitting, do not store.

We should prevent this without necessarily spending more. We just have to adopt a good daily lifestyle and eating habits.

Maintaining good eating habits and time condition are very important for our bodies to absorb and get rid of unnecessary chemicals according to "schedule."

Because:

Evening at 9 - 11pm : is the time for eliminating unnecessary toxic chemicals (de-toxification) from the antibody system (lymph nodes). This time duration should be spent by relaxing or listening to music. If during this time a housewife is still in an unrelaxed state such as washing the dishes or monitoring children doing their homework, this will have a negative impact on health.

Evening at 11pm - 1am : is the de-toxification process in the liver, and ideally should be done in a deep sleep state.

Early morning 1 - 3am : de-toxification process in the gall, also ideally done in a deep sleep state.
Early morning 3 - 5am : de-toxification in the lungs. Therefore there will sometimes be a severe cough for cough sufferers during this time. Since the de-toxification process had reached the respiratory tract, there is no need to take cough medicine so as not to interfere with toxin removal process.

Morning 5 - 7am : de-toxification in the colon, you should empty your bowel.

Morning 7 - 9am : absorption of nutrients in the small intestine, you should be having breakfast at this time. Breakfast should be earlier, before 6:30am, for those who are sick. Breakfast before 7:30am is very beneficial to those wanting to stay fit. Those who always skip breakfast, they should change their habits, and it is still better to eat breakfast late until 9 -10am rather than no meal at all.

Sleeping so late and waking up too late will disrupt the process of removing unnecessary chemicals.

Aside from that, midnight to 4am is the time when the bone marrow produces blood. Therefore, have a good sleep and don't sleep late.

The above information though emailed to me, wasn't verified by health authorities... there's a choice here ..

Hmm .... ?? . .. ?!! 2 AM already !!?

What is on your mind ?

P.S. Below is an interesing question (not a trick question) for your enjoyment.

Read this question, come up with an answer and then scroll down to the bottom for the result. This is not a trick question.

It is as it reads. I didn't get this one right.

A woman, while at the funeral of her own mother, met this guy whom she did not know.
She thought this guy was amazing, so much her dream guy she believed him to be just that!
She fell in love with him right there, but never asked for his number and could not find him.
A few days later she killed her sister.

Question: What is her motive in killing her sister?(Give this some thought before you answer). SCROLL DOWN.

=================================================================

Answer:
She was hoping that the guy would appear at the funeral again. If you answered this correctly, you think like a psychopath.
This was a test by an American Psychologist used to test if one has the same mentality as a killer.
Many arrested serial killers took part in the test and answered the question correctly.

If you didn't answer the question correctly, good for you.

Use of predestrian/ bridges

I think I had never had seen a more Awkward moment in my life =)
I took a bus home after dinner today and alighted at the bus stop near my house. As usual, climbed the flights of stairs on the bridge to cross the road.

As usual, glancing around on the flats, on the road, on the divider (where the metal fences where)....

I spoted a middle aged man ...... some how was hanging on to his life .... his right leg was across the divider ... the left leg was bent and the left foot was trapped on the spookes on the divider... needless to say ... maybe the poor chap jumped or climbed, the groin was trapped too =P
So I harried down the bridge to try to cross over to the divider to help the chap down from the divider. By now, he had dropped to the ground .... !!!

Since the traffic was as notorious fast & many ... I had to wait to cross the road....
Somehow, I seemed to be like a natural traffic stopper , or rather I was quickly glancing back and froth at the traffic & back at the chap ... soon a wave of the cars incoming slowed .
Somehow, the chap got himself to stand up, staggered , nearly falling & CROSSED the road !!

OMG !!

If not for the traffic that had slowed , I'll be dialing for 999 to the Police & 995 to the Ambulance !!

So seeing that he managed to stagger a couple of paces & he took out his cell to try to call , I deduce that he should have regained some strength & left for home...

What a experience ! So please take care of yourselves as there aren't many traffic stoppers/ help around when you need them ...

Coffee & Health/Diet

So what is the truth about coffee?
by CHERRY MASLEN, Daily Mail 10:06am 19th October 2004

Coffee brew: Do the risks outweight the benefits?
Is coffee good or bad for you?
A recent study shows coffee ismore addictive than previously thought, while others show a cupcan have health benefits. So before you go for your morning coffee-break, read this reporton the truth about coffee.

THE BAD NEWS

The Heart

It is suspected that too much coffee can trigger an irregular heartbeat (heart arrhythmia) in those prone to the condition, which affects around 2 per cent of the population. The problem is believed to be caused by the stimulant caffeine. However, the British Heart Foundation says that drinking moderate amounts isunlikely to increase the risk of developing arrhythmia in those not already susceptible to it.

Blood pressure Research into whether caffeine raises bloodpressure took a new turn in 2003, when a team at Edinburgh University tested its effect on the arteries around the heart -rather than in the arm as normal. After the caffeine equivalent of four to five cups of coffee, volunteers' blood pressure rose sharply, even though thearteries in the arm showed no change. This hidden rise may explain why previous studies regarding caffeine and high blood pressure have been inconclusive.
The long-term effects on thecardiovascular system are still unknown.

The Stomach

Coffee does not cause ulcers but could aggravate existing ones, because it stimulates the stomach's acid secretions. Diabetes Two reports this year have shown different views on caffeine andType 2 diabetes, which is controlled by diet and drugs ratherthan insulin injections. American research found a link between coffee at mealtimes and increased blood sugar, indicating that caffeine could make this form of diabetes worse by interferingwith blood sugar control. Diabetes UK, however, felt the studywas too small (14 people) to make any recommendations, other than encouraging diabetics to check their blood sugar regularly so they are aware of fluctuations.Conversely, research by Helsinki's National Public HealthInstitute found that coffee appeared to protect people fromdeveloping Type 2 diabetes in the first place.

This is backed up by a report from the Harvard School of Public Health, which alsosuggests it is minerals in coffee - rather than the caffeine itcontains - that have a protective effect.

Dehydration

There seems little doubt that coffee is a diuretic, encouragingthe body to lose fluid, though some studies, including onepublished by the National Academy of Sciences in America, claimthe effects are negligible.

Migraine

Coffee has long been listed as a possible trigger for migraine. This is thought to be due to compounds called amines in coffee, which stimulate blood platelets in the brain to clump together, releasing the chemical messenger serotonin and so triggering amigraine.

Loss of vitamins and minerals.

Caffeine inhibits the body's absorption of iron and other nutrients, and causes calcium to be expelled from the body inurine. There has been concern this could increase the risk ofosteoporosis. However, research is inconclusive, according to a UK Government report on nutrition and bone health, and in anycase most people drink coffee with milk, increasing theiroverall calcium intake.

Fertility

Caffeine has been associated with low fertility. One study maintained that three or more cups a day was enough to reduce the chances of conceiving, though the results were partly based on what women could remember about their coffee consumption tenyears previously.
But researchers at Sao Paulo University in Brazil discovered that men who regularly drank coffee had stronger sperm than men who did not. It is thought that caffeine has a stimulating effect on sperm, just as it does on the central nervous system.

Pregnancy

The Food Standards Agency issued a warning to pregnant womenearlier this year after research suggested caffeine could beharmful to an unborn child. Pregnancy also slows down theelimination of caffeine from the system. The recommended dailylimit for pregnant women is 300mg of caffeine, roughlyequivalent to four cups of instant coffee, or three cups offreshly brewed.

THE GOOD NEWS

AntioxidantsLike both black and green tea, coffee contains antioxidants, which can help prevent the cell mutation which may lead to cancer.

Headaches
Surprisingly - given that it can be a migraine trigger - thecaffeine in coffee can also help cure headaches. It is one ofthe ingredients in some headache pills because it increases thepower of aspirin and other painkillers by as much as 40 percent.

Brain stimulation

As coffee is a stimulant, it can help concentration. Earlier this year Dr Chiara Trombetti, of the Humanitas Gavazzeni Institute in Italy, went as far as suggesting a morning cup ofmilky coffee could get sleepy schoolchildren off to a goodstart.
However, that is unlikely to be echoed by nutritionistshere, who recommend sufficient sleep and good diet as betterways to cope with the mental demands of the day.

Liver health

Doctors cannot explain the link, but several studies have shownthat coffee drinkers are less likely to develop liver disease, including cirrhosis of the liver.

Gallstones

Women are twice as likely as men to develop gallstones. In onestudy, women who drank four cups of coffee each day were 25 percent less likely to need surgery for gallstones thannon-drinkers.

Good for the skin

Caffeine appeared to improve microcirculation when applied tothe skin in one study, making cellulite look better .

Spirulina

POND scum may cause liver damage.

This possibility surfaced when British liver specialist Julia Wendon testified in the High
Court recently that Singapore actress Andrea De Cruz's liver failure may have been brought on by a health supplement that she was taking, called spirulina.

Detractors call it pond scum, but not a few people here
have taken to this blue-green algae. It is hyped as 'so low on
the food chain it has to be packed with nutrients and energy - and
it is!'
Fans say spirulina is so rich in protein, vitamins,
minerals and other beneficial nutrients, it is 'nature's perfect
food, capable of sustaining life without the need for other foods'.

Yes, it has eight essential amino acids and high levels of vitamin B, beta-carotene, calcium, iron, magnesium, manganese, potassium and zinc. Yes, it contains vitamin B12, otherwise found only in animal meat - but humans cannot absorb its B12.

The Aztecs ate spirulina as a food called tecuitlatl, if records kept by the Spanish conquistadors are to be believed; the Kanembu people of Central Africa have harvested it from Lake Chad from ages past, and eat it as sun-dried cakes with a salsa dip.

As algae reproduces very quickly and individual plants stick together, spirulina is easy to harvest, so fans call it 'a food source to nourish the world's population'.

True, dried spirulina is 70 per cent protein by weight, but the United States Food and Drug Administration says that the claim is meaningless:
You will need to consume many mouthfuls of expensive
spirulina capsules in order to get enough protein every day this
way.

It is easier and cheaper to get the protein by eating grains or meat- and to get iron from dark greens, or carotenes and vitamins from common fruits and vegetables.

Spirulina is taken as a powder mixed with water or in tablet or caplet form. It is purportedly good for medical conditions ranging from cancers and high cholesterol to Aids and obesity.

Very preliminary evidence from very small studies suggests that spirulina - like other nutritious plant foods -may help in some of these conditions.

But the findings have yet to be confirmed by larger and longer studies.

Spirulina consists of one or more members of a family of blue-green algae, with some characteristics of bacteria and some of algae.
Under the microscope, it appears as ablue-green spiral of
long, thin threads. Blue-green algae grows in shallow, warm , slow-moving or still lakes, accumulating on the surface as blue-green scum that,at high enough levels, makes the water smell and taste bad.

Out of the 1,500 species of blue-green algae, a few - such as spirulina, chlorella and aphanizomenon flos-aqua - are popularly used in supplements. Not unlike cultured table mushrooms being safe while wild ones can be poisonous, most types of algae
appear to be non-toxic.

But some varieties produce microcystins, or toxins made up of amino acids, the building blocks of proteins. The problem is that these toxins may contaminate the algal supplements which you buy in health stores.

In 2000, the Department of Health in the US state of Oregon surveyed 87 commercially available blue-green algae products and found 85 of them were contaminated with microcystins. How toxic are microcystins?

In February 1996, when a haemodialysis clinic in Caruaru, Brazil, used untreated water for dialysis during a water shortage, about 60 out of 100 patients with kidney failure died. The cause: The water was contaminated with microcystins. That was dramatic
but unusual.

More generally, microcystins accumulate in the liver over the long term and cause toxic problems. Evidence from China suggests a link between microcystins in drinking water and primary liver cancer.

In 1999, after several blue-green algal products were found to contain microcystins, Canadian health authorities sampled those being sold. They found that only products which were made from spirulina blue-green algae harvested from controlled ponds
contained no microcystins. Other blue-green algae such as chlorella and aphanizomenon flos-aqua harvested from natural lakes contained microcystins in excess of World Health Organisation standards.

So cultured spirulina can be grown free of microcystins, and consumers deserve products that are certified to be toxin-free.

Spirulina is commercially grown in large ponds that depend on sunlight to evaporate the water off. Yet, how much toxin other algae may produce while in the water and how much toxin, if any, is present at harvesting cannot be predicted, as it depends on
environmental factors such as the amount of sunlight, depth of water, minerals in the water and time of harvest, among others.

Contamination levels will thus vary from batch to batch.
This makes it difficult to assess the risk in each brand, and Even different batches of the same brand. Screening each and every batch calls for phenomenal resources.

To compound the problem, there are different levels of toxicity in microcystins, varying according to their molecular structures. The means used to elucidate molecular structures are only available in research institutions.

Since spirulina is a food supplement and not a prescription drug, it is not subject to the same strict regulations that cover the latter.
Makers do not have to declare fluctuations in toxin levels, how they monitor them, and if they do it consistently with every batch.

So because of the potentially variable composition, and until there are rapid, sensitive and reliable tests available for microcystins, a reasonable rule of thumb seems to be: Think pond scum.

Choose What You Want In Life

I got this from my colleague just today , I find it rather helpful for us to use for the betterment of our lifes.

I quote:

"
Harry Browne, the 2000 Libertarian Party candidate for U. S. President once said, "You don't have to buy from anyone. You don't have to work at any particular job. You don't have to participate in any given relationship. You can choose."

Indeed, we all hold the awesome power of Choice. It's all about freedom - the freedom to pick one thing over another. But are you choosing what you want from life?

"Oh no," some people say. "I can't because... I haven't got enough education. ...I need to look after my family. ...I don't have enough money. ...I don't have the time."

What's your reason?

The truth is, we do have choice in every single moment of our lives. F

or those who are destitute or disabled, the choices in life are fewer. But the rest of us often think we don't have freedom when we simply haven't claimed our power to choose differently.

How do you typically make decisions?

Do you do so based on:
1. "shoulds" - doing what you believe you should do.
2. " Pleasing others - doing what others want or expect you to do.
3. " Fear - choosing the safe route.
4. " Habit and reaction - you don't even think about what you're doing - you've always done it this way, and it comes so naturally that you don't even think about why you do it.

Be clear about what you want. Have a sense of purpose. Ask yourself questions like "Why am I doing this? What do I want to achieve?" Write down your answers.

Many a precious brilliant idea has been lost because it was forgotten.

Be more conscious of how you are spending your time, because this is your life passing by.

Never allow yourself to play the victim. You alone are responsible for your life. When you fully accept this, you will claim your inner power to make better choices.

Be open to possibilities for yourself. Select one area of your life where you are unsatisfied, and choose something new, something more for yourself. Do different things and do things differently. Risk more.

Empowerment arises from the three Cs: Choice, Courage and Change.

They are yours to claim. You have the opportunity to create a future that's very different from your past.

And remember, not choosing is also a choice.

" End Quote.
Disclaimer : The above quote are not intentional misuse of the original article. If you know who is the author of this, please let me know. I'll get his/ her name posted too ;)

With the above article, I hope to inspire the readers to take a positive step towards realising a better future by making a decision and making sure that you have the fundementals to take on evaluating your life choices.

=D Cheers !

A Single Sale

An Indian moves to Montreal and goes to a big department store looking
for a job. The manager asked, "Do you have any sales experience?"

The Indian said, "Yeah, I was a salesman back home". Well, the manager
liked the young man, so he gave him the job. You start tomorrow. I'll
come down after we close and see how you did, but let me give you a bit
of advice. If a customer comes looking, say, for toothpaste, you might
suggest for him a toothbrush, or shavingcream etc. you get the idea?"

Of course," the young man said. His first day on the job was rough but
he got through it. After the store was locked up, the manager came down.
"How many sales did you make today?

The Indian said, "One"

The manager groaned, "Just one? Our sales people average 20 or 30 sales/day. How much was the sale for?"

The Indian said, "$101,237.64."

The manager exclaimed, "What? $101,237.64? What did you sell him?"

The Indian explained, "First I sold him a small fish hook. Then I sold him a medium fishhook. Then I sold him a larger fishhook. Then I sold him a new fishing rod. Then I asked him where he was going fishing, and he said "down at the coast", so I told him he was going to need a boat,
so we went down to the boat department, and I sold him that twin engine Chris Craft.

Then he said he didn't think his Honda Civic would pull it, so I took him
down to the automotive department and sold him that 4X4 Pajero."

The manager was astounded, "You mean a guy came in here to buy a fish
hook and you sold him a boat and truck?!"

The Indian hastily clarified, "No, no, no, he came in here to buy a box
of Kotex for his wife and I said,"Well, since your weekend's already
screwed up you might as well go fishing."

haha ...

Reflections on having good friends

Time passes in a blink and sometimes we rush through life without really savouring the moments and knowing people.

People I meet at work, sometimes we would share portions of our life other than work. Talks, nit bits of family, friends, jokes and life in general, this brings people closer to become being friends.

I had the oppuntunity to work for my former boss, Rick. He's a good & supportive boss.
The work I did was interesting, it gave me a lot of insight into the company's businesses worldwide. Also had the chance to hear how he negiotiates with his business, so it was really a good work experience.

When I was working for him, I was also doing my course, it got tiring going for classes and doing assignements and was hard to concentrate at work.
But he continued to chase me to go off earlier for my course. I'm glad he did, else I would be thinner than a reed by now ...

Right about a few months into the job, he got remarried. I am happy for his union with Mary. When he mentions her, there was always this smiling glow. Which I had interpreted as affection. I'm rather glad that they found each other.

Maybe he's the same age as my mom, he's more fatherly in the sense. Kinda feel like a daughter around him.
Most of my life, it was hard to share problems, I think mainly was the way I was brought up, maybe thinking that self thinking and working out the problems were the only ways.. but I was glad that Rick was supportive when I had some difficult problems to brainstorm and talk it out..

Every so often, his wife, Mary, would make cookies for him and he would give me some. I would certainly miss the effort going into making the cookies and eating cookies, premix or not.

Now that they are flying back to their hometown tommorrow morning, I would certainly miss them and a lot.

`.`.`.`.`.`.`.`.`.`.`.`.`.`.`.`.`.`.`.`.`.`.`.`.`.`.`.`.`.`.`.`.`.`.`.`.`.`.`.`.`.`.`.`.`.`.`.`.`.

Rick, today is not a day to smile. I can't help to getting sad on you.
Thanks for every thing & our friendship .
God bless on our lifes and famlies, our work and good friends too.

For tommorrow onward I will try to smile. But it would be a little harder.
When you are back in NC, do bring Mary over to the dance floor again! hehe..
& Catch up with Amanda & her Kids ! Say Hi for me !

See you next time Charlie Brown !

What is your poison ?

LOL ...

Just got an email form friends and colleagues - Involving an email from the certain local hospital's personnel, the person sent out a note out to the friends, which in turn eventally forwarded to my email addresses.

It gone something like the victims received the purfumes, some how it gotten them poisoned.

To me, it seemed so much of a hoax.
1. Defination of poison - this is only applicable through ingestion/consumption of food (note that venomous is bitten by i.e. a snake & the poison usually neuro poisons would imobilised a person's neuro activity and the person would die.
2. This was a dumb action - either the victims drunk the purfumes or they are incredibly stupid.
3. This was classified as confidential information, why was the personnel in the hospital sending it out ? Was the email forged?
4. How could a purfume caused a person to be poisoned ? Does the person meant air-borne poisoned ? i.e. for example the Anthrax ?

Any ways the email raised too much of questions and it wasn't verified, so it's best to take it with a pinch of salt.

Yawnz .. getting late .. been up looking through my work emails the early morning.. I think I'll catch some sleep and wake up the next morning for some more work..

Just another March day

Just another day today, got my broadband up & running. Past week had been tough , staying up late into the wee hours and wondering what happened to my work stuff, matters that had been beyond my control.
Panda eyes bugged me. Come Monday the guy I'm backing up on, would return, suppose stuff to do would be lighter.

Stuff to cheer on - got my results for my studies, passed all. I think next I can go to learn to drive. Seems to have no time if this kind of urgent matters pop over at work. never seem to have enough hours in a day.
A 91-year-old woman died after living a very long dignified life.

When she met God, she asked Him something that had really bothered her fora very long time.
"If Man was created in God's image, and if all menare created equal, why do people treat each other so badly?"
God replied that each person who enters our life has a unique lessonto teach us. It is only through these lessons that we learn aboutlife, people and our relationships with God.

This confused the woman, so God began to explain:"When someone lies to you, it teaches you that things are not alwayswhat they seem.

The truth is often far beneath the surface. Lookbeyond the masks people wear if you want to know what is in theirhearts. Remove your own masks to let peopleknow who you really are.

When someone steals from you it teaches you that nothing is forever.
Always appreciate what you have. You never know when you might lose it.

Never take your friends or family for granted, because today andsometimes only this very moment isthe only guarantee you may have.

When someone inflicts injury upon you, it teaches you that the humanstate is a very fragile one.

Protect and take care of your body asbest as you can, it's the one thing that you have to do what you want to do in this life time.

When someone mocks you, it teaches you that no two people are alike.

When you encounter people who are different from you, do not judgethem by how they look or act, instead base it on the contents of whatis in their hearts.

When someone breaks your heart, it teaches you that loving someonedoes not always mean that the person will love you back.

But don'tturn your back on love, because when you find the right person, the joy that one person brings you will make up for all of your past hurts.
Times a thousand fold. When someone holds a grudge against you, it teaches you that everyone makes mistakes.
When you are wronged, the most virtuous thing you cando is forgive the offender without pretense.
Forgiving those who havehurt us is often the most difficult and painful of life's experiences, but it is also the most courageous thing a person can do.
When a loved one is unfaithful to you, it teaches you that resistingtemptation is Man's greatest challenge.
Be vigilant in your resistanceagainst all temptations.
By doing so, you will be rewarded with anenduring sense of satisfaction far greater than the temporary pleasureby which you were tempted.
When someone cheats you, it teaches you that greed is the root of allevil.
Aspire to make your dreams come true, no matter how lofty theymay be.
Do not feel guilty about your success, but never let anobsession with achieving your goals lead you toengage in malevolent activities. When someone ridicules you, it teaches you that nobody is perfect.
Accept people for their merits and be tolerant of their flaws.
Do notever reject someone for imperfections over which they have nocontrol."Upon hearing the Lord's wisdom, the old woman became concerned thatthere are no lessons to be learned from man's good deeds.
God replied that Man's capacity to love is the greatest gift He has. At the rootof kindness and love, and each act of lovealso teaches us a lesson.
The woman's curiosity deepened. God, onceagain began to explain:"When someone loves us, it teaches us love, kindness, charity, honesty, humility, forgiveness, acceptance, and all of these cancounteract all the evil in the world.
For every good deed, there isone evil deed.
Man alone has the power to control the balance betweengood and evil, but because the lessons of love are not taught oftenenough, the power is too often abused.
When you enter someone's life, whether by plan, chance or coincidence, consider what your lesson will be.
Will you teach love or a harshlesson of reality? When you die, will your life have resulted in moreloving or more hurting? More comfort or more pain?
More joy or moresadness? Each one of us has the power over the balance of the love inthe world.Use it wisely!"
Don't miss an opportunity to nudge the world's scale in the right direction!

Happy Chinese New Year 2005

This coming Feb 8 is the 1st day of the Chinese Lunar New Year !
And by the Zodiac , it will be the year of the Golden Rooster !

Happy New Year to one & all ~ & may Health & Good Opputunities follow ! Why do I say this instead of the Prosperous New Year ?

This year, some Feng Shui Masters in Singapore & Malaysia are saying that do not welcome the God of Wealth as the position of the Wealth will co-incide with the 'Wu Gui' which denotes the position in the house/apartment which signifies poor health an/or death. So ever if you have the wealth, you may not be able to enjoy it.

This year is also not suitable for those who are planning to get married. By the Chinese horoscope calculations for the birth characters for suitability for the dates to get married, none of the dates within this year is suitable. The reason given is that the marriage within this lunar year of the rooster will result in widowhood.

How true ? The topic is subjective, but if any one is trying & a couple of years forward let me know how it went.

However, back to the festivities, I hope this lunar year will open up more opputunities for myself in terms of work and have better health and better family relations.

Well, great that telegraph is phased out now, but it used to be the tool for businessmen and the rich to communicate with each other in the early last century.
Today, Short Messaging Service (a.k.a. sms) rule the mobile/cell phones that we are using. They are cheaper, its owners are virtually contactable all over the globe, save for places without network coverage.

The Human Spirit

What is the Human spirit ?
What forms had you encounted ?
To me it is all forms of emotions that can effect the gestures & the meaning in your life and the life of others. I think that the human spirit is capable of being kind and selfless.

Many times, any one of us can fall short of being in sync with peace, we let the enviroment to affect us, changing and dampening our mood, we let the situational forces to change the way we think to one of negativity and selfishness, we let the fustrations of inability to communicate effectively, to hinder our espressions of emotions or to hide it, in other words, there (might) exist a low level of trust between you and your receptor .

This day and era, we are still carrying the mode of self-first.
From our birth to our growth, genetically speaking, we are constantly needing and wanting, for food and drink, being taught to get to the first, competing with our peers, and perhaps boasting in some cultures, just to get better phychological leverage above peers.

There is the need to emerge the best of the stock and raise above all in all the aspects.
So the race to be the strongest is evident in all the aspects whether it is hidden or apparent to the eye.

Some grow to be leaders of places and people, some manipulate to be famous, or achieve to greatness.

But in the end, I think the race to the finese had erroded their kind human spirit, the person holding the spirit had stopped reaching out to try even to extend the kind spirit that it might feel inside.

Each to its own I suppose.

Decision

King Arthur was ambushed and imprisoned by the monarch of a neighboring kingdom. The monarch could have killed him, but was moved by Arthur's youth and ideals. So the monarch offered him freedom, as long as he could answer a very difficult question. Arthur would have a year to figure out the answer and if, after a year, he still had no answer, he would be put to death.

The million dollar question: What do women really want?

Such a question would perplex even the most knowledgeable man, and to young Arthur, it seemed an impossible query. But, since it was better than death, he accepted the monarch's proposition to have an answer by year's end.

He returned to his kingdom and began to poll everybody: the princess, the priests, the wise men, and the court jester. He spoke with everyone, but no one could give him a satisfactory answer. Many people advised him to consult the old witch -- only she would know the answer.

The price would be high; the witch was famous throughout the kingdom
For the exorbitant prices she charged. Finally, the last day of the year arrived and Arthur had no alternative but to talk to the witch. She agreed to answer the question, but he had to accept her price first.

The old witch wanted to marry Gawain, the most notable of the Knights of the Round Table and Arthur's closest friend! Young Arthur was horrified: she was hunchbacked and hideous, had only one tooth, smelled like sewage, made obscene noises... etc. He had never encountered such a repugnant creature.

He refused to force his friend to marry her and have to endure such a burden.
Gawain, upon learning of the proposal, spoke with Arthur. He told him that nothing was too big a sacrifice compared to Arthur's life and the preservation of the Round Table.
Hence, their wedding was proclaimed, and the witch answered Arthur thus:

“What a woman really wants is to be in charge of her own life.”

Everyone instantly knew that the witch had uttered a great truth and that Arthur's life would be spared. And so it was. The neighboring monarch granted Arthur total freedom.

What a wedding Gawain and the witch had!

Arthur was torn between relief and anguish. Gawain was proper as always, gentle and courteous. The old witch put her worst manners on display, and generally made everyone very uncomfortable.
The hour approached, Gawain, steeling himself for a horrific experience, entered the bedroom. But what a sight waited him! The most beautiful woman he had never seen lay before him! The astounded Gawain asked what had happened. The beauty replied that since he had been so kind to her when she'd appeared as a witch, she would henceforth be her horrible, deformed self half the time, and the other half, she would be her beautiful maiden self. Which would he want her to be during the day, and during the night?

What a cruel question! Gawain pondered his predicament.

During the day, there’s a beautiful woman to show off to his friends. During the night, to face an old witch …
Or would he prefer having by day a hideous witch, but by night a beautiful woman with who to enjoy many intimate moments?

Noble Gawain replied that he would let her choose for herself. Upon hearing this, she announced that she would be beautiful all the time, because he had respected her enough to let her be in charge of her own life.

What is the moral of this story?

IF A WOMAN DOESN'T GET HER WAY, THINGS GET UGLY!
I think just about every one would be any way if things don't turn out the way that we wanted.

From my view point, until that others had proven him otherwise, his auguments stand objectively and logically acceptable.
